For anybody who doesn’t understand why OGL can never be considered a big time endeavour, I urge you to check out http://dgb.honk.org/tapperpost.jpg, then return here.
In a recent thread on the OGL public forums, OGL President Tapper posted the above message. He has since edited his post to remove the offensive graphic, but has not apologized for his actions.
I wish my indignation were limited to Tapper. However, I must also take issue with OGL admins Nate and Isis, who seem to support Tapper’s view of ridiculing the mentally disadvantaged, as seen at http://dgb.honk.org/isis-nate.irclog.txt. This is an IRC log from #ogl on irc.enterthegame.com where I first expressed my displeasure of the graphic. For my opinions, I was banned from the channel. Luckily, a friend remained to log what followed my ban.
Despite many requests and ample opportunity and time, Tapper has yet to apologize. I don’t expect him to, either. Even so, for me at least, any apology now would seem forced, which is no apology whatsoever.
This is the kind of people who are in charge of your gaming experience with OGL.
Tapper holds his staff to a standard of conduct he himself fails to meet. Indeed, he fails to meet any acceptable standard of conduct.
After this, I will never again join an OGL ladder or league. I am ashamed to have ever been a member.

As the parent of one of the special children you so cruelly slammed with your tiny minded wit, it is my sincerest wish that you are blessed with one of these special children so that you can know both the cruelty of people's simple mindedness toward your child and yourself. I further hope that there is a special place in hell for you if you aren't given to opportunity to experience a child like this for yourself. Children like the one you used for your not so funny joke and my child need to be protected, not laughed at. You, sir, are a bigot of the worst kind.

Spare me your sanctimony. My brother had Down's syndrome. I grew up with it. However, unlike you, I don't hold my breath every time disadvantaged person comes near me, and I'm not ignorant enough to assume that having a personal relationship with a retarded person gives me some special corner on the righteousness market.
My bro may have had some problems, but he learned early on that having a sense of humor about his condition made life bearable, not only for him, but for all those made nervous and uncomfortable about his circumstances. People that preach breathless pretension and fear of offense around retarded people do nothing but inflict cruelty on everyone involved.
My brother died at the age of 33. But because he was capable of laughing about his problems, and understanding other peoples fear, he put people at ease, and his loving and gentle disposition rapidly won them over. He never wanted for friends, of all IQ levels, until the day he died. Yes, he was retarded, but he was also cherished. In the end, I still wonder if his condition wasn't, in fact, a gift after all.
I'm sure the truth is, you're completely full of bullshit, and just another one of the weenies in the DGB clan trying a nasty tactic to take a poke at me. If however, you are, on some remote chance, telling the truth, and raising a retarded child to believe that he/she should be hurt every time the world notices his condition, and "that there is a special place in hell for you if you aren't given to opportunity to experience a child like this for yourself", then I suggest you will inflict such cruelty upon the child and everyone around him, that your reward will be well warranted in the end.

Wow. Once again, Tapper conducts himself with the grace and decorum of a vomitus rat wired on meth. Thanks for your post, Jonathan. And if your wife really wrote that for you, I hope you remain on her good side! She can have quite the nasty streak!!
It's good to know that it's not just "weenies in DGB" who are offended by that post, but weeni....I mean, people everywhere! Though, I must confess, I'm a bit honoured that when Tapper read comments critical of himself, he immediately thought of the Defective Gummi Bears. With so many clans expressing their displeasure with OGL (just check their public forums), and so many respected clans having already left the league, I certainly count us in good company. And to be ranked first on this list of esteemed clans by Tapper himself, well, words just cannot express how I truely feel.
It's funny though. Tapper probably thinks all this was done to make him and OGL look bad. The truth of the matter is, Tapper and OGL make themselves look bad every time they put their fingers to their keyboards.
